Andy Gould didn’t quite invent real estate photography but he might as well have. He’s been photographing real estate listings since 1987. If you get a chance, ask him to tell you some of his hair-raising tales of from the days of black-and-white film and rushing to meet the deadline to get into the MLS book.
Yeah, remember when the MLS was a book?
Mediamax Senior Photographer Andy Gould has seen it all – from black and white to color film, from film to digital.
“I guess I’ve always been fascinated with photography,” he says. He started out with a Kodak Instamatic, spending his allowance on film developing, then eventually learning to do it himself.
These days he’s one of the best-known and busiest photographers in the business.
Here’s a luxury home tour he recently shot for RE/MAX Professionals, Elite Home Sales Team:
Gould studied architecture in college and says he’s always been fascinated by lighting.
“It’s a passion that I’ve applied to my work,” he says.
And how, his fans would say.
“I love Andy Gould,” says Erica Chouinard, owner/broker at RE/MAX Success. The way “he brings a room to life in a two-dimensional still – there’s just something about it.” Read more from Andy’s fans here and here.
Somewhere along the way he also acquired a passion for Hawaiian shirts – “my insignia, I guess.” Those shirts are comfortable and casual like him. But the casual exterior belies a drive to satisfy his customers and keep current.
“There’s new technology coming online all the time – learning how to use those technologies and blend these with years of experience is what makes a great architectural photographer,” he says.
