Referrals Rule: Building Those Ever-Important Relationships | Mediamax Photography | Photography, Video and Virtual Tours for Real Estate and Business

As market trends change and home prices go up and down, one thing remains constant in the real estate industry: the importance of relationships. Brandon Doyle recently published an article on inman.com entitled “4 reasons to focus on relationships over sales in real estate”. Brandon says that instead of thinking about profitability and numbers, agents should concentrate on adding value to their network by building and nurturing relationships.

This makes sense because we all know that referrals are still the primary source of new business. Those important relationships you build strengthen and add value to your business, increasing the likelihood that your clients will refer you to their friends. But are you putting as much work into making those referrals happen as your should be?

When it comes to photography, the more you have to offer your clients, the happier they will be and the more good things they’ll have to say to those around them. This will result in more referrals coming your way. One way to do this is by offering more unique photography options like twilight and aerial photography, a floor plan or a 3D Tour. This helps your client’s listing stand out and attract more viewers online.

Another cool way to use visual content is to promote yourself and your business. With so many different options for sharing photos and videos these days, you want to make sure you have something to offer when the opportunity arises.  Consider investing in a video profile of yourself and your business like this one below that we produced for RE/MAX Masters Millennium agent Doug Hauck. Not only can it serve as an interesting and inviting centerpiece for your website, but you can easily insert it in emails to potential clients or make it available for current clients to help promote your services.

If the cost of those higher end photos or producing a professional video is making it hard to commit, consider sharing the cost with your stager, builder, or designer, giving you both great visual material to market your businesses online. You’ll both have awesome content to share. This will strengthen your marketing effort and those relationships you’ve worked so hard to build, leading to more referrals down the road.
