Why you should only trust a professional to take your real estate photos | Mediamax Photography | Photography, Video and Virtual Tours for Real Estate and Business

I see lots of photos of houses over the course of any given week. I watch lots of virtual tours. Every now and then I see a photo that sums up everything we aim for as real estate photographers. More vividly than words, the photo featured above reveals the value of what we do and why you should only trust a professional to do the job for you.

Mediamax Master Photographer Andy Gould shot this photo as part of a Mediamax Virtual Tour for Bruce Martin at Brokers Guild. Look closely and you’ll see the place isn’t a mansion, just your everyday, modest suburban home. So, why is this photo so great?

Because it gives you an instant sense of the space. It’s not a large room. But Andy has composed an image that let’s you take in its most inviting features – the pleasing décor, the very appealing bow window. You see the living area adjacent but you don’t feel cramped by it. This photo also captures the feel of the home. It’s a nice place. Makes you want to see more, doesn’t it?

An amateur wouldn’t know how to compose this shot, let alone that they should. Sorry amateurs, but you’re more likely to shoot this room from one end or the other, or flat on towards the windows. There’s a huge difference between showing a room as yet another rectangular box (Ho hum! Been there, seen that!) and capturing the essence of what it’s like to live there. Andy captured it.

Andy does one more thing amateurs don’t know how to do. He frames the shot beautifully by showing just enough of the sideboard on the left. I say “just enough” because he didn’t really need to show it at all. Obviously it’s not the focal point. It’s just furniture. But by showing just enough, he puts you right inside the room.

This actually is the point of real estate photography. To put the viewer, the buyer, inside the home. It’s not merely to prove that the home has rooms. Trust me, we all know that it does. Again, the point is to capture what the home is all about, so a buyer can say, “I like that. Let’s book a showing.”

Only a professional real estate photographer can deliver that. Don’t trust your photos to anyone less. Order your real estate photography from the professionals at Mediamax Photography Agency today.
