Here’s how one thing leads to another. A couple of years ago, we shot a virtual tour for a home whose owner turned out to be Nicole Williams, vice president of marketing and public relations for Swedish Medical Center. Intrigued by the process and the results, Williams contacted Mediamax about doing virtual tours of units at the center.
We’ve now shot seven tours from Labor & Deliver to Orthopedics to the Sleep Center – and most recently the new Burn and Reconstructive Center that’s scheduled to open today (June 30, 2015). When it opens, Swedish will be the only Level 1 trauma center in Colorado with a dedicated facility of this kind.
Swedish has posted the tours on its website but they’ve also used “‘take a virtual tour’ as a call to action in some marketing materials to send people to our website,” says Williams. They also use video, but Williams likes to include virtual tours because they feel less produced.
“It also puts the patient in control of moving around the room, spending extra time in areas of interest as opposed to a continuous playing video that may skip over what they wanted to see in more detail,” she says.
Cheryl Ungar shot the 360-degree cylindrical panoramas for Swedish’s new burn center. Ungar recently moved over to Mediamax from a competitor. She has 29 years of experience as a pro, shooting everything from news to real estate, but this was something new.
“I’d love to do more of it,” Ungar says.
While the client had four specific areas they wanted shot, for Ungar it was about “picking the best angle in the room, kind of fore and aft, that you would get a good perspective of everything from every angle.”
Williams says she’s enjoyed working with Mediamax.
“I have found that the photographers we have worked with are always punctual, friendly and great about turning around the finished product. The portal where I manage my tours is very easy to use and the metrics of views has been very helpful in various reports to show consumer engagement in the pieces we are pushing the tours in.”
